What we do

Our Services: Preceptor Matching for Herzing NP Students

We are an independent clinical-placement service for Herzing University nurse practitioner students. We do one thing well: we help you secure a qualified, Herzing-approvable preceptor in your specialty and state, early enough to clear Herzing's own deadlines and approval steps. Below is exactly what that includes, who it is for, and what we deliberately leave to Herzing.

Source the preceptor, aim for approval, beat the deadline.

The work, in three pillars

Everything we do falls under three jobs. Each one targets a place where capable students stall, not because they lack effort, but because the clinical site search is slow, relationship-driven, and unforgiving on timing.

1. Source the preceptor

This is the core. We identify practicing clinicians in your NP specialty who are willing and credentialed to precept, and who are within reach of where you live. For a family nurse practitioner we look at primary-care offices and family medicine; for PMHNP we look at behavioral-health and psychiatric settings; for AGACNP we look at acute and hospital-based care. You bring the program; we bring candidate preceptors who fit it. See every track on our specialties page.

2. Aim for a Herzing-approvable site

Finding any willing clinician is not enough. Herzing requires that every site and preceptor be Herzing-approved, and the clinical application needs the preceptor's CV plus a signed preceptor agreement. We line up preceptors against that bar from the start, so the people you submit are the kind Herzing is set up to approve, and we help you gather the paperwork the application asks for. We do not approve anyone ourselves and we cannot promise Herzing's decision, but we aim everything at their published requirements. The full approval picture lives on our clinical placement page.

3. Beat the clinical application deadline

Timing is the quiet killer. Herzing asks students to begin the formal placement process well before the clinical application deadline, and its placement Pledge only steps in after you have completed every required step on time. We work backward from your deadline and start outreach early, so you are submitting an approvable preceptor with room to spare instead of gambling on a conditional backstop. The deadline math and the timing rule are laid out on our clinical deadlines page.

Who this is for

We work with Herzing University nurse practitioner students across the graduate tracks:

  • MSN NP students in any of the six tracks: FNP, AGACNP, PNP-PC, AGPCNP, PMHNP, and WHNP.
  • Post-master's APRN certificate students adding one of those six specialties.
  • DNP students (BSN-to-DNP and MSN-to-DNP) whose NP track needs precepted practicum hours on top of the doctoral coursework and DNP practice project.

If you are enrolled at Herzing, are moving toward your precepted clinical experience, and want a preceptor secured early and to standard, you are exactly who we built this for. Not sure which track you are in or how many hours it carries? Start with clinical hours and we will confirm the exact requirement against your current Herzing handbook.

How the value actually works

Herzing is student-first by design. Students are expressly encouraged to take an active role in identifying and securing their own clinical site and preceptor, and the school supports that with a Clinical Placement Advisor for guidance and a master's-prepared Clinical Coordinator for coaching and additional site leads. Herzing's APRN Clinical Placement Pledge is real: if, after you complete all required steps and meet every deadline, you still cannot secure a placement, Herzing says it will step in and secure one for you.

Here is the honest catch. That Pledge is conditional, reactive, and deadline-gated. It applies only after you have followed the full Clinical Guidance Process, hit your deadlines, started the formal process early enough, and only for Herzing-approved sites. We read the conditions in full on our clinical placement page. Our job is to close the gap before you ever reach that backstop, by having an approvable preceptor in hand early. We acknowledge the Pledge exists; we simply make sure you never have to rely on its conditions.

What is not included

We are precise about our lane, because honesty about scope is part of the service.

  • We do not replace your Herzing Advisor or Coordinator. Your Clinical Placement Advisor and Clinical Coordinator remain your official school contacts for guidance, the Clinical Guidance Process, and Herzing's own site leads. We work alongside that support, not in place of it.
  • We do not guarantee school or board decisions. We cannot promise that Herzing will approve a given site or preceptor, and we have no control over licensure or certification-board outcomes. We aim at the published requirements; the decisions stay with Herzing and the boards.
  • We are not Herzing University. We are an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for Herzing University or its accreditors. Herzing's graduate nursing programs are CCNE-accredited and the institution is HLC-accredited; we are simply a private placement service that helps you meet Herzing's standards.
  • No tuition guarantees. We do not offer, and Herzing does not offer, a money-back or refund arrangement tied to placement. The Pledge is a placement backstop, not a refund.

Ready when you are

If you want a preceptor search that starts early, targets Herzing's own approval bar, and lands inside your deadline, tell us your track, your state, and your timeline. We will tell you honestly what we can line up. See how it works, review our pricing, or reach out to get started. No phone calls required; we work through your message and the details you share.

Questions

Good to know

Are you part of Herzing University?

No. We are an independent clinical-placement service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Herzing University or its accreditors. We help Herzing NP students secure preceptors that meet Herzing's published approval requirements, but every approval decision rests with Herzing.

Do you replace my Herzing Clinical Placement Advisor or Coordinator?

No. Your Clinical Placement Advisor and master's-prepared Clinical Coordinator stay your official school contacts for the Clinical Guidance Process, coaching, and Herzing's own site leads. We work alongside them by sourcing an approvable preceptor early so you clear Herzing's deadlines and approval steps.

Can you guarantee Herzing will approve the preceptor you find?

No. Herzing requires every site and preceptor to be Herzing-approved, and the clinical application needs the preceptor's CV and a signed preceptor agreement. We aim everything at those published requirements and help you assemble the paperwork, but the approval decision is Herzing's alone.

Which Herzing students do you work with?

Herzing nurse practitioner students: MSN students in the six NP tracks (FNP, AGACNP, PNP-PC, AGPCNP, PMHNP, WHNP), post-master's APRN certificate students in those tracks, and DNP students (BSN-to-DNP or MSN-to-DNP) whose NP track needs precepted practicum hours.

Isn't Herzing's Clinical Placement Pledge enough on its own?

The Pledge is real, but it is conditional and reactive. It only steps in after you complete every required step, meet all deadlines, begin the formal process early enough, and only for Herzing-approved sites. We secure an approvable preceptor early so you meet those conditions instead of depending on the backstop. It is a placement backstop, not a tuition refund. See our clinical placement page for the full conditions.
